My PROJECTS

The Things I (sometimes) Do During Syd's Nap Time...
and she naps every day, so check back! ;)

Our bedroom wall
Welcome to our BEDroom.
Loved this quote.
Believe it or not, it's the only vinyl quote I've liked enough
to put directly on the walls...but that will change.
This one was a BEAST to cut out..I eventually figured out my cutter
machine settings could be improved, it wasn't just a dull blade.
PS: If you can't read it, the quote reads:

"Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite"

 Ho Ho Ho! Blocks
To save on storage space and materials (which were scrap wood pieces already cut this size), I used the back of my "Give THANKS" blocks to make the HO HO HO blocks...

Santa's belt didn't stand out without much red below it, so I pained a couple more scrap wood pieces and stuck it under the middle blocks to raise them and add more red below them...
before red bottom blocks were added

JOY Frames/Christmas tree topper
It's pretty self explainatory how I put these together. Just cut out some scrapbook paper for the background, used my Cricut machine to cut the vinyl "J O Y" and stapled some ribbon (or whatever that stuff is called) to the back of the frames we had stored away.

The bows on the frames were just normal bows that I cut both loops in half that made three piecs stick out on either size. That gave me an idea for a Christmas tree topper- since I was currently using a Santa hat.

I just tied lots of bows together and cut the loops- although I left some of the loops to give variety. I wish I had a silky brown ribbon in the mix but this is what I had layin around.

It's not super elegant or pretty, but it's a nice change from our old Santa hat.
Maybe one day I'll get a cool star or pretty angel. :)

The Fleur-de-lis
Can you imagine how boring our handicapped (aka: knobs-down-low) stove was before the fleur-de lis?!

I managed to finally take care of that blank space at the top of the stove after 3 1/2 months of living here in Galveston. Totally worth the 10 minutes it took. Did this using my lovely Cricut machine. Easy Peasy.

THANKSGIVING B L O C K S
I love my "SPOOKY" Halloween blocks and decided I needed something to replace the space they took up at the top of our living room shelves during October.
This took me a couple days worth of Sydney's nap time :)

I originally used gold vinyl on all the blocks (above)
but thought it blended in too much so I
changed the "Give" to brown and the "Thanks" to ivory (below)
 The final product.
Once Thanksgiving is over, I plan on using the back of these blocks to make
Christmas blocks of some kind...So far I'm pretty sure they will say "Ho Ho Ho!"
Check back, I'll most definitely post them on this page ;)

 Da Silva
One of my really good friends growing up got married on November 3, 2012, in NYC, just 3 days after she was evacuated from her Wall Street apartment due power outages and other issues from Hurricane Sandy
I was sure this piece had gotten lost in the storm, but sure enough, it was only delayed. A few days after she was married, it arrived in her old apt. lobby at the same time she happened to be checking in at her former apartment for something and now it's hanging in her and her husband's new place in NYC.
That makes me happy :)

CONGRATULATIONS KELSEY!
If you haven't been able to tell already from my "PROJECTS OF OLD" section just below,
I kinda specialize in making these "est." family name signs.
I've got it down to an art now.
I love making them for people because it was one of my
favorite wedding gifts from our wedding that someone had given us. :)

0.                    PROJECTS OF OLD

For my sister Melissa's last child's birth 2012

Christmas gift to my sister in law/her family in 2011

Someone hired me out for these 3 bad boys
for Christmas gifts in 2011.
Wedding/shower gift 2011
Plus several more that look like this one.
With different names and dates, of course.
These colors and fonts are kind of "the original" look that I
typically make for a wedding gift (it's like the one we got for our own wedding)
so I've made a "few" more like this brown one
(except I use darker brown more like the Elkington sign above).

Made this for Scott's boss on his last day of work
(before we moved)
teaching Spanish to the missionaries
at the MTC, Provo.

For Melissa's birthday one year 2010?

For Michelle's birthday 2010?

Home made Halloween decor,
bc I'm too cheap to buy it before it goes 50% 2010

Halloween 2012-
Can't get cheaper than yarn and glue

Halloween Tree 2012

For my friend Megan's first baby boy 2012
It's cute, but I think it's totally boring
compared to baby girl things!

Just see for yourself below...

For my friend Ashly's new baby girl 2011

For my friend Rachel's baby shower 2012

Made these for Christmas for the 2010 babies all born that year.
Didn't get a pic of Major's boy shoes bc I made those on
Christmas Eve!

Syd's crib bedding- bumper, skirt and
quilt (which is not pictured but matches the skirt).
2011
I guess I never got a good picture of it before it became a toddler bed.
This pic was just on my computer. It works!

Niece's 2nd Birthday 2012
(Really, a present for her mom)

 A few homemade cards:
Made this one for my parents when
they moved into their new house.

I still make my own cards, but they are a LOT more simple;
Personalized and pretty, but simple.

For Syd:
Scott's sister Rachel found this old chair either in someones trash or at a garage sale.
Either way, I didn't get a picture of it before we started the project. Rachel and the girls, Scott and I had sanded all the nasty old chipped off paint from it and started painting it in the first pic.
 Hopefully, a Walton family keepsake!
January 2012.

  1. WOW. I am so impressed! Everything looks great! Motivates me to actually get back to DOING things. I think I have to skip Thanksgiving decor this year and go straight to Christmas. No money...ha

    1. Thanks Kristin!! I hear ya! Luckily I already had everything for the Thanksgiving blocks so it was free this year! I just got the wood blocks from the scraps from my friend's basement framing! I've gotten scrap wood from Home Depot before too. Once they made me pay like 50c for a bunch and once they gave it to me free! Good luck! :)

  2. Wow! You are so creative! I always love how your home is decorated. Could I pay you to cut some vinyl for me? I've been meaning to ask since the service auction, but I want to get a couple vinyl things printed/cut.
